Those hoping for a respite from cannabis possession-related charges in Florida shouldn’t get too comfortable, even after top prosecutors announced that the state has limited technology to pursue such offenses. The Northern Florida US Attorney’s office sent out a press statement saying that it will continue to prosecute marijuana possession cases, and that it will even review cases that have been set aside by state attorneys. The feds have even considered the staffing concerns that could arise by prosecuting cannabis crimes. The US Attorney also announced that its office would be looking into the possibility that assistant state attorneys could be sworn in as federal attorneys in order to pursue marijuana cases. A 15-person panel in Alabama convened for the first time Tuesday to consider whether medical marijuana is right for the state. The panel, known as the Medical Cannabis Study Commission, was born out of a bill to legalize medical cannabis that was introduced in the Alabama state legislature earlier this year . As lawmakers called for more information, the legislation was shifted from a proposal to legalize medical marijuana to instead appoint a commission to study the issue. Nearly three months later, the commission met Monday at the state capital of Montgomery, listening to presentations on medical marijuana policies in other states, as well as appeals from advocates. The commission heard from Cynthia Atkinson, the widow of a local meteorologist, Dan Atkinson, who died from Parkinson’s in 2017. “He had Parkinson’s for over 10 years,” Cynthia said, as quoted by AL.com. “At times his legs, most of the time for the last three years, his legs would feel like he was in vice grips.” T...

California cannabis edibles manufacturer Plus Products has donated more than $60,000 to the San Francisco LGBT Center, according to a statement from the company. The donation comes from Plus Products’ sales of its Rainbow Sorbet limited edition gummies. The company’s donation totaled $60,937, which represents a $1 contribution to the SF LGBT Center for each package of the gummies sold. Plus Products manufactures cannabis edibles at its licensed facility in Adelanto, California and is headquartered in San Mateo, in the San Francisco Bay area.
